Findlay Men’s Hockey League Information Page

A League

  • The Findlay Men's Hockey League "A" Division features more experienced players and a faster level of play. 
  • Many of our players have high school and/or college playing experience. 
  • Full slap shots are allowed, and face masks are optional.  (Visors or cages are preferred)
  • The league provides 2 referees and a scorekeeper/clock operator for each game. 
  • Games consist of three 17 minute periods (stop time). 
  • There are currently 3 sessions of play for the 'A' league. 
  • The Fall session (October thru December) consists of 10 to 12 games.
  • The Winter Session (January thru March) consists of 10 to 12 games.
  • The Summer session (May thru June) consists of a 6 to 8 game season.  
  • The league provides team uniforms which are to be returned at the end of each session.
  • FMHL would prefer that only players rated 6.5 or higher play in the 'A' League. 
  • If circumstances arise where we do not have enough players to form at least a minimum of 4 complete teams, we will allow players that are rated less than 6.5 to play in the league. 
  • Our goal is to provide a quality hockey experience for those players that are capable of playing the game at a high level. 

B League

  • The Findlay Men's Hockey League "B" Division features more intermediate level players with a moderate level of play. 
  • Many of our players have youth hockey and/or high school playing experience.   
  • Slap shots are allowed and a minimum of a half-shield face mask is required.
  • The league provides 2 referees and a scorekeeper/clock operator for each game. 
  • Games consist of three 17 minute periods (stop time). 
  • There are currently 3 sessions of play for the 'B' league. 
  • The Fall session (October thru December) consists of 11 to 13 games.
  • The Winter Session (January thru March) consists for 11 to 13 games.
  • Summer Session (May thru June) consist of  6 to 8 games per team.  
  • The league provides team uniforms which are to be returned at the end of each session.   
  • FMHL requires that only players rated 3.5 to 6.5  play in the 'B' League.  
  • Exceptions will also be made to allow some players to play "up" or “down” a level.  This will allow a few players each session the chance to test their skills against better players, with the goal being to improve the lesser skilled player to the point that they are capable of standing on their own in the higher level. 
  • Players that are playing down a level are expected to be “teachers of the game" and are there to help the players on their team get better. (not just try to win or dominate the game)
  • Players that are playing up a level are expected to be "students of the game" listening to and learning from the more experienced players.
  • Our goal is to provide a quality hockey experience for all intermediate and lower intermediate players that are capable of playing the game at this level. 
  • If a player abuses his privilege of playing in the league, they will be returned to league they are rated for.  

C League

  • The Findlay Men's Hockey League "C" Division is geared for the beginner level of player with a slower level of play. 
  • Most of our 'C' League  players have little or no playing experience. (with the exception of our league games)
  • Slap shots are not permitted and a full face mask is required to play in this league
  • The league provides 2 referees and a scorekeeper/clock operator for each game. 
  • Games consist of three 17 minute periods (stop time). 
  • There are currently 3 sessions of play for the 'C' league. 
  • The Fall session (October thru December) consists of 11 to 13 games.
  • The Winter Session (January thru March) consists of 11 to 13 games
  • The Summer Session (May thru June) consists of 6 to 8 games
  • The league provides team uniforms which are to be returned at the end of each session.   
  • FMHL requires that only players rated 3.5 or lower play in the 'C' League.  
  • This league is open to even the newest of hockey players. 
  • Our goal is to provide a fun hockey experience for all beginner level players that are trying to learn the game of hockey. 
  • 'C' league games are about fun and learning the game. 
  • Winning and losing are not priorities and the league will encourage better players to move up to the next level as soon as their skills warrant it.
