Sub Spots
Quick Links and FAQs
I won't be at one of my games. How do I request a sub?
To post your spot for someone to pick up, use the Sub Request Form link above to fill out a sub request. The sooner you open up a spot, the better the chance someone will fill it. We prefer sub spots to be posted at least 24 hours before game time.
How do I sign up to sub in a game?
All currently open sub spots are listed in the table above with a Sign Up link to the far right of the row. Click the Sign Up link for the spot and follow the prompts to complete the form. The Sub Coordinator will review your sub request and either approve or deny it depending on whether you are within the rating range for the division and the team is compliant with all team rating rules.
Can I sub even though I'm not rostered this season?
Yes! Use the Register as a Sub link above to register. Once you have registered, you'll be able to sign up for open sub spots.
I'm rostered this season. Do I also need to register as a sub?
No, as a currently rostered player, you do not need to submit a separate sub registration. The reason we ask non-rostered players to register as subs is so that they can share their prior hockey experience and to collect their USA Hockey confirmation number.
Do I need a USA Hockey Number to sub?
Yes. As an affiliate of USA Hockey, every player who plays in our league is required to obtain and provide us with a record of their USA Hockey confirmation number.
How much does it cost to sub?
The sub cost is $5 per game for rostered players and $30 per game for non-rostered players. Goalies sub for free.
How do I pay my sub fees?
After your sub request is approved, you may pay your fees by using the Pay Sub Fees link above.
Why doesn't my name show up in the sub player list on the Sub Request Form?
Your name won't show up in the sub list if you have not registered with a current USA Hockey number or you are currently serving a suspension. If neither of those are the case and your name doesn't show up, contact our Sub Coordinator using the link below.
It's game time and my sub request is still pending. Can I still play?
Maybe. If the team is still compliant with all the rating rules, then you will be allowed to sub. Contact our Sub Coordinator if it's getting close to game time and your request is still pending.
I'm a rostered player who submitted a sub request, but I can now make the game. Can I still play?
As a rostered player, you get first priority on playing for your team. Contact our Sub Coordinator using the link below to request the sub spot be removed.
I signed up to sub, but I can't make the game. What do I do?
Contact our Sub Coordinator using the link below to request being removed from the sub spot. If you sign up for a sub spot, but no-show to a game, you will still be charged the sub fee.
Will I get charged if I signed up to sub, but don't show up to the game?
Yes. If you signed up to sub, but you are unable to make the game, contact our Sub Coordinator using the link below to request being removed from the sub spot. If you no-show without contacting us, you will be charged the sub fee.
As a team manager, how can I see who signed up for sub spots on my team?
The table above shows all the currently open and claimed sub spots. Sub spots that are pending approval are still awaiting review by our Sub Coordinator. Our system automatically approves all valid sub requests, so if a spot has been sitting at pending approval for more than 10 minutes, then there's an issue with it that needs reviewed such as the player rating not being within the range for the division or the team being over the cap.
As a team manager, how will I know whether my team will still be cap-compliant with a particular sub?
Use the Team Rating Table link above to pull up your team and swap out players to see whether the team will still be cap-compliant.
As a team manager, can I get access to a list of players who want to sub?
Yes! Login to All-Star Rec Manager using the Login link above, go to the Reports page, and pull up the report Sub Player List report.
